Over

...the knee.

Well well well what do we have here?! No sneakers?! I'm a new woman, guys. No really. I've been feeling like a new me lately. It's a wonderful feeling. Quick fun fact... After I took these pics, I got a haircut. It was glorious! I've been wanting something new, and I guess receiving packages in the mail from online shopping just wasn't enough. All I can think of is being courageous, open-minded, and free. Slowly, but surely, getting over the obstacles standing in my way. Over the knee boots and haircuts are just the beginning.

P.S. I recently did a post with this same dress + neck scarf. Do you see what shoes can do?! So there ya have it, how to wear a LBD with sneakers and thigh-highs. Get you someone who can do both ;)

Body

...suit suit suit!

Denim patch as a censor bar?! YES PLEASE! I'm living in bodysuits this season, and that is barely an exaggeration. I don't know what it is, but snapping those buttons together is so satisfying. It kinda goes like this in my head, "yaaaaaasss girl, automatic outfit domination on full throttle." Hey, you got to be your own hype man sometimes.

Btw, one day I decided I wanted to cut up a pair of jeans and this happened. "Yaaass girl...." (you know the rest)

Change

...from my casual self.

I've grown so accustomed to either wearing jeans or sneakers, that I forgot what it's like to dress up a bit.  I'm definitely not at ball gown status, but it's certainly a change. Better yet, it's a change that I want to commit to... occasionally ;) These past few weeks have had me thinking about change. I feel the need to step out of my comfort zone and experience new things. It's all a matter of refusing to hold myself back from my full potential, or simply missing any opportunity thrown my way.

Watch out world, I'm coming (also watch out because all of these new heels may have me tripping over my own feet).

Knotted Nets

...and a very green bralette.

I love green lately. I love bralettes lately. I love peek-a-boo everything lately. That tells you exactly how I feel about this ensemble. I'm really starting to consider myself a casual pro if I'm being honest with ya. My not-so-secret-secret is to pair effort with effortless. Finding happy mediums makes life simpler... and outfits better!

Growth

...make yourself available to it.

I must admit, even though I mentioned wanting the Fall season already, I'm going to miss all of the vibrant plants growing abundantly. It kind of reminds me of where I am at this point in my life. With my birthday around the corner, I find myself looking back to see how far I've come within the year and how much I've allowed myself to grow. Many mistakes were made, many lessons were learned, and I couldn't be more excited for what the future holds. I feel more optimistic than ever (but maybe a little too much as I apparently think I'm immune to bug bites in this tiny LBD... although this camo jacket will camouflage me right? Take that, little creatures who live in this beautiful green, flourishing place).

Baby Girl

...but don't call me baby.

I have this vivid memory as a child going school shopping and having to choose whether I wanted a shirt that said baby girl or angel. I went with angel. I don't have the slightest clue why I remember it so well, but here we are over a decade later and it looks like the tables have turned. Speaking of a turn of events, I've decided that I am ready for Fall. I find myself already trying to make the transition into it, then realize that the state I live in won't allow such a thing. Continuous heatwaves seem to be in my future forecast. BOO.

Paint The Town

...*insert your favorite color*

In my last post, I mentioned color coming into my life out of the blue (ironic that I just mentioned a color? I think not!). Although I'm wearing a black ensemble, I couldn't help but gravitate toward this extremely colorful wall. Does that still count as incorporating color? I'd like to think so. If I accept it into my photo vision, it totally counts! Summer must really be rubbing off on me - I'm a changed woman everyone. Finding murals and such around the city is always a fun thing. I love being able to participate in the creativity of my generation. Art is in any & everything. Do me a favor and go out to find it, create it, appreciate it, and enjoy. XO

Believe In Yourself

...and see where it gets ya. Hint: Far!

It's time for my denim diaries to make an appearance again. I've got the blues, but in the best way possible. Swoon! I know you're all aware of my denim obsession - this is old news. The most important thing here is that two of my favorite things have come together to produce one. DENIM + INSPIRATIONAL WORDS = a happy Jorshua who hunts this top down until she finds it in her size. It seems that the moral of the story is to believe in yourself and never give up on finding the top of your dreams. Anything is possible!

Waves

...don't die.

Clear skies, the wind frizzing my hair, a cool breeze, and the soothing sound of ocean waves sums up my favorite experiences by the shore. I really don't remember the last time I went to any beach with intentions of getting in the water. I've found that I enjoy the simplicity of walking along the coastline, no matter how much de-tangling of the curls comes after. This time around I opted for a forest green bodycon and Stan Smith as the perfect matchy matchy combination. Apparently, I was feeling spontaneous because I chose to go with a baby blue bandanna to have a little fun with my colors. WHO AM I? It feels a bit strange to say, but I am kinda liking this colorful person. I guess we'll wait and see if it lasts :)

The Summer Attire

...as the shorts say, pour it up - pour it up!

It looks like all of the recent gloom has cleared away and the sun has finally come out to play. - Wait! Unintentional rhyming at it's best. Ok back to business - As we all know, being outside during the summertime can get super irritating. Ice cream melts at lightening speeds, hair poofs up and tangles within the first .5 seconds out the door, and wearing clothes seems almost torturous. I've kind of learned how to bare with it, just because there is nothing like being out and seeing all of the blooming flowers, sandy beaches, and backed up lines at the ice cream truck. Summer is in full effect you guys, and I'm totally here for it. This year I will make sure to dress accordingly, no matter if I think the world will end if I don't add on a jacket that would match my outfit perfectly. So, let's all take the time to find that one go-to summer outfit that will save us this season. Here's mine :) *direct links below

Chasing Sunsets

...featuring baggy cut-offs.

I always feel super lucky when I get the chance to watch the sun go down on days where the sky looks like a million bucks. Our world is truly incredible. You know what else is incredible? The feeling of wearing loose jeans. It's such a nice break from having fabric hug my legs as if it's the last time we'll come in contact. I got these thinking they would be a little more snug, but decided not return them because I realized it was a nice change. The whole mom jean trend is hands down one of my style staples throughout my wardrobe right now. I don't mind throwing in another pair to watch the sunset in.

P.S. Here's an obvious tip from me to you. If you want to catch the perfect sundown scenery, you can check the weather app & it will give you an estimated time! I'd go about 20 mins earlier in order to get the entire show our universe puts on :)

Tommy

...Hilfiger ladies and gents.

The 90's are taking control of my brain and I am willingly submitting myself to it. Exhibit A: A denim skirt. It is so amusing to see fashion go around & around in a constant circle. Think of it as a ferris wheel. The bottom spot getting off is what's next to come back! Something you would've considered old fashion is now the next big thing. Something that your mom wore in her prime is now your most prized possession. Being a 90's baby, I saw all of this stuff in style as a child. Now, I am constantly searching the web for vintage pieces from that time period. Mind blown. Once I got this skirt, I cut off the edge to shorten it and create a raw hem. Ta-da! An old nineties piece brought back to life and given a second chance to explore with me.

Patch It Up

...here's my new obsession.

A couple of months ago I found myself searching online for any piece of clothing that was adorned with patches. I'm talking anything from "patch jacket" to "patch jeans". I was on a serious mission to find something of the sort to bring into my closet. My search results seemed to only bring up super pricey items that just did not meet my needs. I then came to the conclusion that I'd be better off customizing my own jacket to match my personality and style. My new search results included vintage style denim jackets & cool patches that would fit my vision. Let me tell ya, it was one the toughest hunts ever. It took about a month to gather up the perfect pieces that would finally turn into this:

I am super pleased. My wallet is too :) I do plan to add a few more patches on, but I couldn't wait to share this bad boy with you all!

Beyond

...where do I even start.

Beyond happy to be back in the blogging world. Beyond grateful to find time for my beloved hobby. Beyond stoked to adorn myself in The Great Beyond.

Spring time is here guys. My allergies made me very very...very aware. I think one of my spring go-to's this year will be a crisp white ensemble. I'm pretty much over the whole floral thing that comes around during this time of year. This dress from The Great Beyond has come in clutch just in time for the spring season. I just want to spend all my days in this 100% organic bamboo fabric dress while enjoying the crisp weather. Clean lines + Fresh air + The Great Beyond = HAPPY JORSHUA
